Welcome to "The Grapesmith Society!" We are about all things wine...mid-week glasses of wine at local spots, weekend brunches, and wine-tastings when we can find them. We are absolutely NOT a group for wine snobs. We are experimental and love an eclectic wine list. My eyes always go to the section on the wine card called "obscure or interesting" wines. Are you with me???
What is a "grapesmith" you ask? Simply put, it's someone who loves wine and enjoys the company of others who love wine too. Let's get together and explore the wine bars and restaurants in the area and enjoy some wine and make new friends.
This is a group for persons of all ages and orientations! Singles and couples are welcome. We are a social group. We are NOT a dating group. Obviously, you must be of legal drinking age to participate.
My favorite wine? Anything bubbly, but a dry rosé from the Provence region of France is my hands down favorite. Mostly, I drink whites, but I welcome new friends who love the reds!!!
I'm also all about supporting local venues. If you're looking for activities in Charlotte, this is not the group for you. Gaston County has wine bars and restaurants with interesting wine lists...enough to get us started on our adventures as "The Grapesmith Society." My plan is to schedule two events per month: mid-week events for wine and conversation, weekend brunches for both wine and food. I am open to suggestions for venues...send me your thoughts.
You may recognize me from the photo...I'm Melanie Smith, the organizer of the Meetup group called "The Gaston Go-Getters." At this point, there are no membership fees, but donations to help offset the exorbitant organizer fees are always welcome.
