Enjoy hand drum and jingle dress dancing with Sergio and Maritza, and the beautiful songs and storytelling of renowned Algonquin/Metís flute player, Bill Buchholtz Allison. Indigenous baked goods provided by Dempsey House.

Joseph Standing Bear Schranz is a White Earth Band Minnesota Ojibwe Elder doing incredible work as a Native activist, educator, and community leader in the Indigenous community across Illinois. For decades, Joseph has led the Midwest SOARRING Foundation (Save Our Ancestors’ Remains and Resources Indigenous Network Group) as founder and president. 

The Midwest SOARRING Foundation’s mission is to work toward repatriation, protect sacred sites, educate the public, and promote community building among all people regarding indigenous lifeways.
Midwest SOARRING invites all people to gather into an ever-widening wider circle that preserves Mother Earth, and the rich traditions of the ancestors. Midwest SOARRING invites you to learn about the many intertribal Native American lifeways that provide wisdom and direction in our contemporary world. In keeping with this path, the Midwest SOARRING Foundation works to maintain the traditions of the ancestors and to conserve and restore to health the natural environment.
