Minnewaska State Park - Gertrude's Nose - 7 Miles

Although Minnewaska SP is one of the most popular hiking areas in the tristate area, we rarely schedule a day-hike there because of the travel time from our area (90-120 min), but hey you gotta drive sometimes! [Some people may prefer to stay overnight in the New Paltz area for convenience - your call]. We will meet at the NY Thruway Park & Ride in New Paltz and carpool to the trailhead ($10 per car at trailhead, Park & Ride lot is free). This is a lollipop 7-mile hike that encompasses spectacular scenery, and a heart-stopping overlook with an elevation gain of 1,200 feet. Not recommended for beginners.

Bring plenty of water and snacks, and appropriate seasonal items (sun- and insect-protection in summer, and crampons in winter). Day-of-hike-only phone: 973-704-7362.

**Note** We hike at a moderate pace, and never leave anyone behind. Our hikes are not suitable for fast hikers who like to forge ahead of the group.
