Hartshorne Wood 7+ Miles

An easy-breezy 7+ Mile summer-time hike with under 1,000 feet in elevation gain! On this mostly wooded trail, we will visit a Naval Battery from a bygone era and actually get to gaze out at the Atlantic Ocean across the barrier island that props up the beachtown of Seabright. Coming to think of it, it is surprising that for a group based on the Northeastern coast, we rarely get to hike near the Atlantic ocean, but perhaps this hike will get us started on some shore explorations. At the end of the hike we will optionally stop by at Bahr's Seafood restaurant overlooking the Highlands Reach and the Sandy Hook Bay.

Bring plenty of water and snacks and appropriate seasonal items (sun - and insect-protection in summer and crampons in winter). Day-of-hike-only phone: 973-704-7362.

**Note** We hike at a moderate pace, and never leave anyone behind. Our hikes are not suitable for fast hikers who like to forge ahead of the group.
