Name: Sunrise Mountain/8+ Miles

Location: Stony Lake Pavilion at Stokes State Forest

A moderate 8 to 9 mile hike in Stokes State Forest. We will start at Stony Lake and follow the brown blazed trail to the Appalachian Trail. We will then take the AT to the Sunrise Mountain Pavillion where we will break for lunch. We will return by the Blue Mountain Loop Trail. Although this hike is a longer than our typical hike it is not more difficult. Most of climbing is in the first half of the hike and none of the climbs are very steep.

Bathroom facilities are available at the park office, Kettle field, and places along Route 206.

Bring plenty of water and snacks, and appropriate seasonal items (sun- and insect-protection in summer, and crampons in winter). Day-of-hike-only phone: 201-470-9317.
\*\*Note\*\* We hike at a moderate pace, and never leave anyone behind. Our hikes are not suitable for fast hikers who like to forge ahead of the group.
