Minnewaska SPP - Sam's Point (10 Miles)
Details
Sam's Point, Ice Caves, Verkeerder Kill Falls, and High Point for a total of 10 miles, and approximately 800 ft in elevation gain. Strenuous hike due to mileage and ice caves. Some minor rock scrambles on ridge trail to High Point. Beautiful hike on varied terrain with exceptional views. This hike is not recommended for beginners
Bring plenty of water and snacks, and appropriate seasonal items (sun- and insect-protection in summer, and crampons in winter). Day-of-hike-only phone: 845-826-0563 [K].
**Note** We hike at a moderate pace, and never leave anyone behind. Our hikes are not suitable for fast hikers who like to forge ahead of the group.
**To join our hikes, you must: (1) enable Meetup messaging with organizers (see "New to hiking" link below), and (2) post a profile image that can be used to recognize you. If you do not, you will be removed from Going list.
