This week: Camilo Bastidas. Camilo Bastidas is a Colombian-born saxophonist, vocalist, and performer whose musical journey began after moving to Aruba at the age of 10. As a teenager, he started playing guitar and singing, later discovering his true passion when he received a saxophone in 2016. Completely self-taught at first, he quickly began performing and became one of the few young saxophonists active on the island. In 2020, Camilo pursued his studies abroad and was accepted into the ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem, where he received his first formal training and developed a deep connection to jazz, Latin jazz, and salsa. In 2022, he performed for Princess Beatrix at the Royal Palace. Today, his vibrant sound blends jazz influences with Latin rhythms, reflecting both his roots and his dynamic artistic identity.
