May Day At The Haymarket

Greetings! I hope you can join us for May Day.

We'll be meeting at the restaurant from 10:15 am to approximately 10:50 am. I (Nina) will have a Meetup badge on my coat.

Haymarket Memorial Ceremony (Lake & Des Plaines)

Following at 11:00 am, the Illinois Labor History Society's annual May Day plaque-hanging ceremony, and Haymarket Martyrs commemoration, will be taking place at the Haymarket Memorial Sculpture at Lake & Des Plaines.

Every year, a plaque is added to the Haymarket Memorial Sculpture's base by a labor-related union or federation. Past years include plaques from organizations from around the world. This year, a plaque will be contributed by Frente Autentico del Trabajo, a Mexican union.

Additional Events

May Day Demonstration (Union Park & Federal Plaza)

Sponsored by Occupy Chicago and other organizations: On May 1st, at 12:00 pm, there will be a May Day demonstration gathering at Union Park (1501 W. Randolph Street.)

At 1:00 pm the demonstration will be marching to Federal Plaza (230 S. Dearborn.)
