Aubrey de Grey will be the opening speaker at our launch meeting. He will discuss the need for an organized Health and Life Extension movement and related topics. Q and A to follow.
We are working with Aubrey de Grey -- CSO of SENS, Jim Strole -- head of RAADfest, Michael West -- CEO of AgeX (founder of Geron and ACT), Steve Garan -- CTO of Trans-Time (cryonics), and other leaders and leading organizations on the project herewith.
We will be considering how to organize, coalesce, and center the movement. We'll start by discussing choosing its permanent name, and main goal.
Added attraction: Lawyer John Cassady (now also an advanced biology student) will be speaking on Metformin, NAD, Rapamycin etc. Their legal and life extending aspects and the need for further research into such medicines.
And: The Life-Extension Comedian, who recently performed to great acclaim at RAADfest, will also appear.
Choose the name(s) you think best from the following list (or one of your own). You can put it mentally into the blank to test it out:
The ________Movement. We'll discuss the efficacy of member's choices.
MOST PROMINENT POSSIBILITIES:
(Note -- Many names are already in use by other organizations, and can be easily appropriated for general use.)
RAAD (Revolution Against Aging And Death)
Strong, Direct, Intriguing, Clearly suggests "radical."
Include-Everyone
Humanistic, Inclusive, Intriguing (We want to include everyone in the coming control of aging.)
HALE -- or -- Health And Life Extension -- the name we're using for this Meetup group. Use of the acronym is optional. (Direct, Has word "health." Positive connotation -- "hale and hearty")
SAD -- Sickness Aging, and Death -- as part of a name. So "Stop SAD," or some such name is worth a mention near the top.
Everyone Evolving -- Many think indefinite perfect-health life extension is the next step in evolution. Humanistic evolution is crucial as well.
OTHER POSSIBILITIES: (Many, as mentioned, are already used by organizations and can be adopted as a name of the entire movement.)

The Huvement (a huvement -- pronounced "you've-ment" is a movement that affects all of humanity)
??????????????
What is the purpose of any movement? Typically, to change a given society’s perspective in a particular area. In our case, it’s to effect all of humankind’s thinking about health and life extension so it is seen in a positive light. We have a movement, but it is not organized or coalesced.
To insure that as many people as possible now alive (rich and poor) are included in what is very likely inevitable -- the achievement of a perfect-health indefinite lifespan, the relevant research (cryonics, stem cells, nanotechnology, gene editing, tissue engineering, telomere lengthening, supercomputers, etc.) needs to be accelerated.
Think of any successful movement, #MeToo, Black Lives Matter, Feminism, and so on – all have one recognizable short name and one identifiable objective. We are known by many names: Life Extension, Immortality, Anti-Aging, Rejuvenation, Transhumanism, Ultimate Health, The Singularity, Longevity etc. The U.S. and world public has little recognition that our movement even exists, so how can they support it?
We need to decide on one definitive name, and one main goal (likely research acceleration), and then otherwise organize and promote The _________________Movement. Then we can become what we deserve to be. The most important movement in the history of the world.
