The Art of Simple Living: 100 Experiments to Simplify Your Life:
Details
### The Art of Simple Living: A 14-Week Experiment (Weekly Meetup)
After doing an Artist’s Way series together, a bunch of us started asking a similar question:
What if we tried something like that again — but a little simpler?
Less inward excavation.
Less pressure to “do it right.”
More experimenting with small, everyday shifts that help us feel present and alive.
So as a group, we decided to try The Art of Simple Living together.
The book offers 100 small experiments, with the gentle suggestion of trying one per day. That works out to about 7 experiments per week, and roughly 14 weeks total if we take our time.
We’ll meet every Tuesday at noon to check in, talk about what we tried (or didn’t), and notice what we’re learning along the way.
A few important things to say clearly:
You do not need to do all the experiments.
You do not need to do one per day.
You do not need to keep up.
If you try one experiment and it shifts something for you — wonderful.
If you try a few and decide some of them are absolutely not your thing, also wonderful.
If you mostly just want a reason to slow down and have a thoughtful conversation, you’re in the right place.
This isn’t a challenge or a self-improvement project. It’s more of a shared experiment.
The point isn’t productivity.
It’s curiosity.
It’s noticing how small changes can pull us back into the present moment — and maybe even help us have a little fun.
When we meet on Tuesdays, we’ll reflect together:
- What did you try?
- What did you notice?
- What felt nourishing?
- What didn’t?
- What surprised you?
That’s it. No pressure. No gold stars. No falling behind.
If you enjoyed the Artist’s Way series and are curious about trying something similar but different, this might be a good next experiment.
We’ll take it one week at a time.
And we’ll see what happens.
Week 1 will be very low-key.
We’ll simply talk about the value of simple living in general — minimalism, simplicity, and how small reductions in “stuff” (mental, emotional, physical) can lower anxiety and help ease burnout.
If you don’t have the book yet — or decide you never want to buy it — you’re completely welcome. Week one is a bigger-picture conversation, not a homework review.
This isn’t a challenge or a self-improvement project. It’s more of a shared experiment.
