Hormones and Rejection Sensitivity

# Why Am I So Sensitive Lately? Hormones, HSPs & Midlife
Monday, October 12 | 12:00–1:00 PM Pacific
Online | 60 minutes
Have you ever noticed that your sensitivity seems to change depending on where you are in your menstrual cycle? Or that things you once handled relatively easily suddenly feel like…a lot more in midlife?
Maybe you're more easily overwhelmed. More reactive to stress. More sensitive to noise, conflict, criticism, or rejection. Your emotions may feel closer to the surface—or you may simply have less capacity to brush things off than you used to.
Hormones may be part of the story.
Join us for a conversation about the fascinating intersection between hormones, the nervous system, and sensitivity, with a special focus on what happens during midlife.
We'll explore how changes and fluctuations in estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone can interact with mood, sleep, stress response, emotional regulation, and our experiences of connection and rejection.
We'll talk about:
• Sensitivity across the menstrual cycle — why some parts of the month may feel very different from others
• Perimenopause and menopause — and why changing hormones can sometimes make an already-sensitive nervous system feel even more sensitive
• Testosterone and midlife — including how lower or changing testosterone may affect mood, energy, motivation, emotional experience, and well-being
• Stress and overwhelm — why our capacity for handling stimulation and stress may change
• Sleep and sensitivity — and how hormonal changes and disrupted sleep can amplify one another
• Relationships and rejection — why criticism, disconnection, conflict, or perceived rejection can sometimes hit especially hard
• The bigger picture — how hormones, nervous-system sensitivity, stress, relationships, health, and our environment continually interact
This won't just be a presentation. We'll spend part of our hour learning together and part discussing our own experiences, observations, and questions.
Whether you're navigating perimenopause or menopause, experiencing other hormonal changes in midlife, noticing shifts in your sensitivity, or simply curious about why your nervous system sometimes seems to turn the volume up or down, you're welcome here.
About the recording: A portion of the educational presentation will be recorded and added to the Midlife Health Foundations Library. Our community discussion will not be included in the recording so participants can speak more freely and maintain the privacy of the conversation.
This gathering is for education and community discussion and is not intended to provide individual medical diagnosis or treatment.
Come curious. You may not be imagining it when the world suddenly feels like more.
