In this room, we’re all heart shaped. We’re the bruised and bleeding, the lost and found, the heavy hearted. We’re The Heart Shaped Society.
Hey there, I’m Mercy! You might remember me from the “Berlin Metal Friends.” I’m beyond excited to build this new community centred around all the feels of modern metal, post-hardcore, and everything emo-adjacent.
I feel this deep, unshakeable need to connect with others over music that’s heavy in both style and emotion. I love my metal aggressive and my hardcore melodic and sad. Some of my favourite bands are Alexisonfire, Bring Me The Horizon, Sleep Token, Dayseeker, ERRA, Knocked Loose, Being as an Ocean, Too Close To Touch, Sleeping with Sirens, Circa Survive, La Dispute and so many others who give voice to the things we sometimes can’t say.
In this Heart Shaped Society, we’re not just talking about heavy music—we’re living it, screaming it, and making friends through it. We’ve thrown ourselves into Sempiternal karaoke nights, screamed along to metalcore anthems and emo breakdowns, and danced through fog at our club night for the emotionally unstable. We’ve hosted listening sessions for new albums and nostalgia bands, and found connection at Heartcore hangouts for fans of post-hardcore and metalcore. Whether we’re sharing a cocktail over music talk, meeting up for gigs, or helping each other find new bandmates, this group is a space for feeling everything loudly—and never feeling out of place for it. 🖤
But honestly, more than anything, I want this space to be a home for all the heart-shaped ones. If your brain is constantly racing, only interrupted by those breakdowns that hit just right, and if you’ve ever wished you could share the emotional abyss of your favourite (scr)e(a)mo bands with someone for just a moment—because same, all the time—this is totally your place. Here, we can finally feel understood in the beautiful chaos of it all, finding comfort in our messy, heartfelt connections.
