When we get to Block Island we'll take a taxi to the North Light- about $5-6 per person.

Carpool: we will leave at 9:45 A.M. from I 95 exit 18 (Sherwood Island) commuter parking lot . Once off exit, head away from Sherwood Island ; lot is on right). People are expected to "self-assemble" and leave the carpool site to arrive on time.

On 95 South - Take exit 84 South for New London Waterfront District. Continue on Eugene O'Neill Drive and at second light, turn left onto Gov. Winthrop Blvd. Go straight over RR tracks and bear right to the ferry entrance.

On 95 North - Take exit 83 for New London Waterfront District. Continue straight off of exit ramp and onto Huntington St. At third light, turn left onto Gov. Winthrop Blvd. Go straight over RR tracks and bear right to the ferry entrance.

On 395 South - Take exit 78 to Rte. 32. After the Coast Guard Academy continue onto Eugene O'Neill Drive and turn left at second light onto Gov. Winthrop Blvd. Go straight over RR tracks and bear right to the ferry entrance.

From Hartford - Take Rte. 91 South to Rte. 9 South to 95 North (see 95 North above).

Alternate Route from Hartford - Rt. 2 East to Rt. 11 South to Exit 4. Left onto Rt. 82, right onto Rt. 85 to Rt. 95 North (see 95 North above).

Clayhead Nature Trail
This scenic nature trail winds through shrubs, fields, and wetlands to the Clayhead Bluffs along Block Island's northeast shore. This trail and the maze of trails leading off from it provide wonderful walking and bird watching with views of farms, ponds, and the coast.

There will be some time for swimming and a dinner before we return to the main land.

With your RSVP you acknowledge that "The Hiking Group - CT & NY" is not a professional outdoor organization. The sole purpose of this group is to enjoy the outdoors with like minded adventurers. Hiking, rock climbing, biking, skiing, and snow shoeing have dangers and you take those risks upon yourself. As a participant you understand that you are responsible for your own preparedness and well-being and will hold no one else liable in case of injury.
