Trail Building - Windwig/Hemlock/Pine Mtn

Here is your chance to give back to trails you hike and learn new skills.
The local mountain bike chapter has organized a trail building day to (hopefully) finish building the reroute of Red Trail that connects to the yellow trail going to Pine Mountain overlook. The existing Red Trail, which we hike on our Windwig/Hemlock/Pine Mtn hike, is not a sustainable trail (too much vertical, straight line, erosion, etc). This reroute is to make a sustainable trail for multi use.
"SAVE THE DATE. Saturday May 17 from 9 to noon we are going to do the BIG DIG at the Bennetts Farm Red Trail reroute. It is all roughed out but we need man and woman power to finish off the benching and other aspects of the trail. Please save the date to help out. You can't have good things without hard work." Meeting location will be Pine Mountain Trailhead on Pine Mountain Road in Ridgefield, CT. GPS address that can be used: 200 Pine Mountain Road, Ridgefield, CT.

No skills required. Training and tools provided. Bring work boots, work gloves, water/food, bug spray and a sense of adventure.
Updates for weather etc will be posted here and I will try to cause meetup to send those registered update emails.
I helped with the roughing out of the trail and it will be a great improvement to the existing trail.
