Michael Ciaiola Conservation Trail - 6.6 miles - B+ Hike / 2.5 mph

THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER HIKE

For this hike we will be covering the 6.6 mile trail at the Michael Ciaiola Conservation Area in Patterson NY. This route includes several challenging hills totalling 1460 feet of elevation gain. Hike rating is B+ and target pace will be ~2.5 mph. Please be on time, and wear appropriate gear and footwear for hiking.

On the border of New York and Connecticut, in Putnam County is a large conservation area that not many people know about, the Michael Ciaiola Conservation Area! The Conservation is over 600 acres and includes the Great Hollow Nature Preserve and Ecological Research Center. There are two parking areas and the trails at both spots lead to a large waterfall and rock ledge area. Perfect for taking in views, splashing around and exploring. The trails are well maintained and are kid-friendly.

Please wear hiking footwear, and bring as needed poles, bug spray, backpack, personal first aid and meds, water and snacks.
