Hike to Beautiful Nuclear Lake โ€“ Pawling, NY ๐ŸŒฟ
Join us for one of the most scenic hikes along the Appalachian Trail in the Hudson Valley โ€” We will hike along the AT trail and loop around the sparkling Nuclear Lake, surrounded by forest, wildlife, and peaceful winter views.
Weโ€™ll begin on the Appalachian Trail, climbing gently through wooded hills before reaching the lake, where weโ€™ll take a break to enjoy the beautiful shoreline and panoramic views. After circling the lake, weโ€™ll reconnect with the AT and return to the trailhead.
This hike offers a great mix of forest walking, open views, and lakefront scenery โ€” perfect for nature lovers and photographers alike!

  • Distance: ~4 miles
  • Elevation Gain: ~600 ft
  • Difficulty: Moderate (some rocky and hilly sections, but manageable for active hikers)
  • Pace: About 2.5 mph โ€” steady but not rushed

  • Meeting Point: Nuclear Lake Trailhead Parking Lot, Route 55, Pawling, NY. park in the small lot or along Rt 55.
  • Start Time: 10:30 โ€” please arrive at least 15 minutes early as we will start the hike on time.

### ๐ŸŽ’ What to Bring

  • At least 2 liters of water
  • Snacks for our lake break
  • Hiking boots or trail shoes (some muddy spots possible)
  • Layered clothing for variable temperatures
  • Trekking poles (optional but helpful)
  • Microspikes (as icy conditions are possible)

After the hike, weโ€™ll head to Thai Elephant II restaurant in Patterson NY , for some delicious Thai food (lunch menu is available).
