From the 1840's, Ramsden Park was the site of the old Yorkville Brick Yards. It produced the yellowish-white bricks, and used for historic buildings in York and Toronto, including Yorkville Town Hall, St. Michael's Cathedral, St. James Cathedral and University College.
Ramsden Park was established in 1904 when Toronto purchased the land and named it after Alderman George Ramsden, local resident who was active in city government.
But the park is only a small portion of an interesting area that borders the park itself. Let's explore!
This walking tour is for all walking levels and fitness skills. Please dress for the season. And remember to bring your love of history as well. Hope to see you there.
This walking tour begins and ends outside the Rosedale Subway Station on the east side of Yonge Street.
