This is it! This new tour for 2025 explores old Cabbagetown, town of myth and legend, the district of cabbages on the lawns. When one thinks of Cabbagetown this is what comes to mind.
Have you ever wondered what life was like in Toronto at the turn of the 20th century when the city was on the edge of becoming modern? A city with its face turned to the future but holding onto the romantic ideas of the industrial revolution and the Victorian age.
Take a step back in time to a world very different from our own, a world of open-air streetcars and horse and buggy, romantic notions, and quaint and quiet days, and boring Sundays. Welcome to the 19th century.
This walking tour introduces the walker to the fascinating history of Cabbagetown, one of Toronto's classic neighborhoods and rich in history, and design, draws its charm, from its unbroken streetscapes, and attractive houses, amid the beauty of its natural surroundings.
This walking tour draws on the beauty of the area and outlines some of the important historical sites and will be of interest to anyone who loves domestic Victorian architecture. The tour explores the area south of Gerrard. The main Cabbagetown tour explores old Don Vale, the area north of Gerrard.
This tour begins at the Toronto Public Library Parliament Branch at 269 Gerrard Street East just west of Parliament Street and continues southbound through Regent Park. We end the tour at Queen and Parliament streets.
This tour is designed for all walkers and weather conditions. Hope to see you soon.
This tour has a ticket price of $15.00 per person!
