This special historical walking tour discusses the Irish Potato Famine in great detail, and the implications for Toronto in 1847.
Starting the walking tour near Ireland Park just east of Bathurst Quay we take a deep dive into the events that saw thousands of people head west to Toronto in 1847! A truly global event! A life changing event for those caught up in the famine in Ireland and Toronto itself. Toronto was never the same after, and impacted the future of the city for nearly a century.
But the stories surrounding Ireland Park are not the only stories from this era. This tour looks at the Potato Famine with a different lens. We end at the corner of King and John streets at the site of the Fever Sheds.
This extensive tour begins in Little Norway Park adjacent to Queen's Quay West, at the foot of Bathurst Street, and ends at King Street and John Street!
This tour is for all walking levels. Please dress for the season.
This walk has a ticket price of $15.00 per person!
