The West Toronto Junction is back! It has been reworked and a new route explores more of this historic area. Prior to this, the walk crossed Dundas to the north, this tour remains on the southern side and extends to Keele Street and the industrial heart of the area.

One of Toronto's most walkable and fascinating neighbourhoods, and is steeped in history.

Located in Toronto's west end, west of Lansdowne Avenue, the area is surrounded on three sides by railway lines: the CNR mainline to the west, Metrolinx to the east, and the CPR east-west line to the north. Dundas Street is the heart and main street of the Junction, but also provides the area with a southern boundary, creating a compact well defined neighbourhood.

The village was a centre for industry, and was lined with railway tracks hence the name the Junction. Paint, ceramics, chemicals, and the Ontario Stock Yards were also nearby. Industry gave way to the worker's residences, and by the 1950s the neighbourhood was multicultural consisting of Maltese, Italian, Polish, and Macedonian immigrants. Later, the area became predominantly Portuguese.

This area was also an area of churches set in a garden like setting. Now most of the churches have been converted to residences, but we still have them as historic markers of a lost era.

This walk is for all fitness levels.

The meeting place for our walking adventure is outside the Annette Street Branch of the Toronto Public Library at 145 Annette Street in West Toronto, just a block south of Dundas Street West.

This tour has a ticket price of $15.00 per person!
