The Hitchhiker's Guide to Large Language Models and open source AI

Details

How to use open source alternatives to large language models like OpenAI's GPT, and why you should.

On Thursday 30 November, software engineers Stijn de Ligt and Yoshio Schermer will share insights on why and how they use open source language models like LLaMa for AI implementations.

Benefits of using open source LLM's
On the surface the AI revolution is lead by big tech coorporations, but just out of sight open source alternatives are not far behind. Open source language models like LLaMa and Falcon not only challenge OpenAI's GPT and Google's PaLM. They also offer a greater degree of privacy and control, empowering users to audit the models to their specific needs while minimizing data exposure and potential ethical concerns. In his talk, Q42 software engineer Stijn will walk you through the developments in this field. He will explain what the benefits are of using open source alternatives and how you can stay up to date with future developments.

How to use GPT-4 without sacrificing privacy?
How do you use OpenAI's GPT-4 and not sacrifice privacy? This is a problem that PostNL faced when dealing with highly sensitive government letters. Our solution? Using an open-source model (e.g. Llama2) to remove sensitive information so we could subsequently use GPT-4. In this talk by Q-er Yoshio, you will learn how this was achieved.

After their talks, there is also ample opportunity to ask Stijn and Yoshio questions.
