HONG KONG NATURAL HISTORY SOCIETY
BOAT TRIP TO MUI TSZ LAM (PLUM FOREST) AND CRESCENT ISLAND

The Mui Tsz Lam Revitalisation and Sustainability Programme started in 2019. It is Hong Kong’s first project to conserve the natural and cultural landscape of an upland forest as a comprehensive living heritage site. The project aims to enhance biodiversity and ecosystem services within the region.

Lai Chi Wo is one of the largest and best-preserved Hakka walled villages in the northeast New Territories. The village has a rich history and was a center of education, economy, and traditional festive celebrations. You can walk from Lai Chi Wo to the other six villages.

Mui Tsz Lam is one of the oldest villages in the Hing Chun Alliance, with a history dating back several hundred years. The village is known for its plum tree cultivation and is the origin of three other Tsang villages.

Kop Tong is a village established by the Fan clan of the Hakka people. The village was once prosperous with farming and livestock activities, but many villagers eventually migrated overseas for better opportunities.
