Human Values Meetup - online

Our next Meetup, on the fourth Sunday of the month, will be online. We're still considering the possibility of meeting in person again at an upcoming meeting, with a Zoom connection available for those who are farther away.

The topic for Sunday, December 28 is: "Why is Leaving MAGA so Difficult?"

The MAGA coalition remains intensely loyal to Donald Trump. Defections seem rare. Rich Logis is trying to make them less rare with his advocacy organization, Leaving MAGA. “Even today, talking about my past, the feelings are conjured—those feelings of being welcomed and feeling like you’re part of something, and the exhilaration that comes from that." Logis emphasizes that leaving MAGA is difficult because, as much as it’s a political ideology, it’s also an identity that meets emotional needs.

We will listen to a 20 minute interview with Rich Login, followed by open discussion.

We were meeting in a restaurant before the covid situation. When we met there, our format was: lunch and socializing, the first hour; then a presentation, followed by open discussions. The topics are on various subjects related to human values, such as: aspects of society; the arts; social science; current events; nature and evolution; history; science and technology; ethics; philosophy, etc.
