Whether you are looking for something bone dry, something unctuously sweet, or even something in between, Sherry is, indeed, the answer! It goes with any occasion and partners with all kinds of foods.

For too long has this superb wine category been overlooked. The Great Aunt's dusty bottle has had its day. Let us bring some of SW Spain's sunshine to these brilliant wines!

Stretching from the mouth of the Guadalquivir river to the port of Cadíz, the Sherry triangle takes in the principal towns of Jerez de la Frontera, Sanlúcar de Barrameda and El Puerto de Santa María. It is not wall-to-wall vineyards, because they are interspersed with pasture and arable crops in a mixed landscape. The prevailing wind off the Atlantic keeps a freshness to the area, engendering a degree of salinity in the fortified wines of this area - at least in the dry ones!

Carrie Davies, of Lothian Wine School, is a qualified Sherry Educator, and she will be showing us wines from the range of styles produced in the Sherry triangle. Options that we may encounter include the dry Fino or Manzanilla, the sweet Pedro Ximenez (or PX), or something between these extremes - Amontillado, Oloroso or Palo Cortez, for example. We will see what she brings for the evening...!

Whether you are a Sherry aficionado, already, or whether you are new to Sherry, this will be an evening of delights. We encourage you to come along and explore this great value 'Lost Treasure' in the company of like-minded individuals and friends. You will not be disappointed!
