You know - or, at leat, have heard of - The Judgement of Paris, don't you?

No, it's got nothing to do with Greek mythology, but the comparative tasting of French and Californian wines, organised in Paris, by Steven Spurrier. The outcome was that the French tasting panel considered the US wines better than the French ones - but they were tasting them all, blind - i.e. they did not know what they were tasting, in advance.

The IWSS held a similar event, just after Covid restrictions were lifted, with interesting results. We are proposing to do the same again, tonight, but with a slight difference, this time round... It won't necessarily be France v USA.

Again, this will be a blind tasting. It will be up to each of us to determine which wine comes from the country we are looking for, and which does not...

We will be joined by 'Smily' Pete Stewart, who has been in the wine trade for years, and now is based at Majestic, in Glasgow's Giffnock. He has spoken to us, previously, and has been warmly received for his engaging and informative presentation style.

Come along and watch those of us who think we know something about wine make fools of ourselves! It'll be an entertaining evening.
