Cool off with us on a summer Saturday as we float down the Shenandoah River with River Riders, ranked one of the Top 2 Tubing Trips in the U.S. by USA Today! This is a laid-back, scenic experience — perfect for soaking up nature and enjoying great company. It is a 1.5 hour drive from DC to Harper's Ferry. The river float is 2 - 3 hours, plus we will stop at a brewery or cafe after the float.
Date: Sunday, July 13th
Time: Meet at 09:30 AM (float begins shortly at 10am)
Location: River Riders – 408 Alstadts Hill Rd, Harpers Ferry, WV
River: Shenandoah (Flat Water – Class I)
What to Expect:
• This is a self-guided flat water tubing trip, great for beginners
• Tubing typically takes 1.5–2 hours depending on water flow
• Must be in reasonably good health and comfortable in the water
• River Riders provides life jackets, tubes, and shuttle transportation
Important Notes:
• You must book your own tubing pass. To book your tube, please call 304-535-2663 and give them my name. They will add you to the reservation. Note they offer military and veteran discounts (10%) as well as a West Virginia Resident Discount.
• Please arrive early to allow time for check-in, gear pickup, and shuttle transport
What to Bring:
• Water shoes or secure sandals (required — flip flops not allowed)
• Sunscreen, towel, waterproof bag for essentials
• Optional: snacks, water bottle (no glass or alcohol)
After our float, we’ll meet up at a predetermined local café or brewery in Harpers Ferry for lunch or drinks and relaxed conversation.
