## Washington's Mountain Masterpieces July 19-25 🌲🏔️🌿
This seven-day adventure showcases the very best of Washington's mountain landscapes, beginning beneath the glaciers of Mount Rainier, continuing through the alpine lakes and ridges of Snoqualmie Pass, and culminating among the jagged granite peaks of the North Cascades. Along the way we will hike approximately 58 miles through some of the most spectacular scenery in the Pacific Northwest, including wildflower-filled meadows, roaring waterfalls, historic mining settlements, turquoise alpine lakes, glacier-carved valleys, and high mountain passes.
Our journey begins at Mount Rainier National Park, where the nation's fifth-oldest national park surrounds a 14,410-foot volcano that rises nearly three miles above the surrounding landscape. Here we will explore the famous Skyline Loop and Reflection Lakes, where summer wildflowers bloom beneath hanging glaciers and waterfalls tumble from melting snowfields. From Rainier we travel north to Snoqualmie Pass, gateway to the central Cascades and home to two of Washington's most beloved hikes, Kendall Katwalk and Snow Lake. These trails introduce us to a different mountain world, one of rugged granite ridges, emerald lakes, and a famous section of the Pacific Crest Trail.
The second half of the trip ventures into the North Cascades, often called the "American Alps" because of their dramatic peaks, extensive glaciers, and breathtaking alpine scenery. After visiting the historic ghost town of Monte Cristo, we will cross the spectacular North Cascades Highway into the Methow Valley, our base for exploring Maple Pass and Sahale Arm. These two hikes are widely considered among the finest in Washington, offering sweeping views of glacier-covered summits, alpine meadows, mountain goats, and some of the most rugged terrain in the Lower 48 states.
In addition to extraordinary hiking, the trip features some of Washington's most scenic drives. We will travel through old-growth forests, along rushing rivers, across mountain passes, and through charming mountain communities while experiencing the remarkable diversity that makes Washington one of America's premier hiking destinations. By week's end, participants will have experienced three distinct mountain regions, each with its own character and beauty, creating a comprehensive tour of the finest landscapes the Evergreen State has to offer. 🌲🏔️🌿
