This workshop is designed for beginners who would like to learn some basic coding in Playgrounds. You will take away an understanding of Xcode, iOS Storyboards and basic prototyping of mobile apps.
You'll spend the session learning from Peter Roberts, The Iron Yard's instructor who is an experienced professional App Developer and trainer.
To get the full experience of the workshop you will need the following:
- Bring an intel MacBook running Yosemite with Xcode 7 (loaded from the OS X AppStore). Please make sure you have installed this beforehand.

Learn the basics of Xcode
- Discuss the the Navigator, Editor, Document Outline, Canvas, Utility
Console areas
- Understand the basic developer tools Xcode, Interface Builder and Simulator
Storyboards
- Learn about how storyboards work with code files (view controllers)
Playgrounds
- prototype your Swift code in Playground
Build a simple app using:
- code
- buttons
- text fields
- simple tables
- navigation controllers
- tab bar controllers
