La Barge Lower Loop (Superstition Mountains)
Details
This is a loop hike of approximately 7 miles with an elevation gain of about 2,000 feet. Expect a challenging and adventurous route that includes boulder hopping, off-trail travel, and some bushwhacking. This hike is best suited for experienced hikers who are comfortable navigating uneven terrain.
We will begin at the Canyon Lake Marina Trailhead, following the Boulder Canyon Trail (103) to La Barge Creek. From there, we’ll travel over Paint Mine Saddle, then turn north into Boulder Canyon. The route continues with large boulder hopping as we descend the canyon until it intersects again with La Barge Creek. We’ll follow La Barge Canyon downstream to where it meets the water at Canyon Lake, then take a spur trail back to the trailhead, completing the loop.
Start Time:
We will begin hiking at 7:30 AM from the trailhead.
