Why Young Adult Literature Hits So Hard: The Power of YA & New Adult Fiction
(A Preview Session for an 8-Week Series)
During one of the most uncertain periods in recent history, readers didn’t turn away from emotionally intense stories—they turned toward them. One of the most resilient and compelling areas in publishing? Young Adult (YA) literature.
But here’s the question: why do stories written for adolescents continue to resonate so deeply with adults?
In this engaging and discussion-based session, we’ll explore what makes Young Adult—and its emerging counterpart, New Adult—literature so powerful across generations. From the historical evolution of adolescence to the emotional immediacy that defines the genre, this session invites participants to rethink what these stories offer and why they endure.
This introductory session also serves as a preview of a deeper 8-week series for those who wish to continue the exploration.
