The Persians by Aeschylus
Details
After reading about King Cyrus, King Darius, Ahasuerus, and King Atraxerxes in the Bible, our group decided to jump next to Aeschylus's earliest surviving play (472 BC), The Persians. The play is unique because it depicts contemporary events rather than focusing on the ancient past.
Readers may want to read (or familiarize themselves with) Ezra, Nehemiah, and Esther - parts of the Bible where these Persian Kings are leading characters.
