What Does Community Mean to You? An open & enriching group discussion!

Hi e hoa, you are warmly invited to our next Stranger Social Event. Please join us for a chance to meet and connect, including with fellow Launch Community members. Let's gather and grow together, discussing the deeper meaning of ‘Community’ :-)

This event will include an open group discussion.

Together, participants are encouraged to explore their unique experience/s within different kinds of communities. Consider, for example, what does ‘Community’ mean in the modern world we live in? Here at the Launch Community, we like to nurture the notion of an ‘unlikely community’. And, this concept is ever-changing over time, with our different pursuits, alongside our unique membership input. We, therefore, invite everyone to discuss their hopes, desires and expectations for communities (including our Launch Community).

The Launch Community is a social experiment, where we pose this simple question: How do we cultivate community, amongst a group of people without any shared background, or even aligned interests?

We are also keen on creating and sustaining strong bonds in the Launch Community. To do so, we believe we should understand what community truly means, including for our members.

We can’t wait to hear your thoughts to help shape the future of the Launch Community. Our Event Facilitators will guide the conversation, and we’re looking forward to a conversation grounded in curiosity and care. This is also a gentle reminder that by attending any Launch Community event, you agree to uphold our Community Guidelines.

Format:

• 1-1:10PM: Warm welcome for all
• 1:10-1:20PM: We’ll open with an introduction and a chance to meet new friends
• ️1:20-2:45PM: Then, we’ll go into our facilitated group discussion.
• 2:45-3PM: Final, lasting thoughts and closing of event. Participants are welcome to stay longer or move to another nearby venue, to continue hanging out.

You'll leave with:

• The valuable insights of other participants, including fellow Launch Community members
• An enriching, unique experience
• Food for thought, to help widen your gaze, about life
• Food/beverages for your tummy – we will provide a few light refreshments. We also encourage participants to bring something to share, if possible (no pressure).

• Yourself, an open mind and open-heartedness.

• Where: Gribblehurst Community Hub, 5 Cabbage Tree Swamp Drive, Sandringham, Auckland
• Cost: Free! :-) Koha/donation is appreciated, to help us ‘keep the lights on’ and grow our endeavours together.
