What better way to spend a fun weekend, than coming together intentionally and doing a group pop quiz? Or, as we like to call it, a trivia night with a bunch of potential strangers. Wondering if this event is for you? Ponder this thought, if you will:

Here at Launch Community, we like to explore diverse ways we can learn, even grow together, albeit as fellow ‘strangers’. That’s what is great about our ‘Stranger Social’ events: They are an opportunity to build and shape an ‘unlikely community’, through working relationships and whanaungatanga (kinship).

So, you are most welcome to come along and test out if this event, or our wider Launch Community, is a fit for you. Please feel welcome to show up solo. The evening will include the group pop quiz, as well as a short intermission, for snacking and chit-chatting with fellow ‘strangers’ The Stranger Socials are designed to assist you in feeling welcomed, introduced and included into our community, from the start. They're also a chance to meet people you wouldn't normally run into. Or, if you like, this event is also worthwhile to share with other folks that you think would enjoy it. The more, the merrier! Don’t worry please - there won’t be a grade going towards your coursework. It’s only a fun competition amongst us all. We'll also have some time to chit chat, accompanied by a few snacks and non-alcoholic beverages 🙂🥤

What is the Launch Community?
We're an experiment in an ‘unlikely community’. Most groups form around shared interests. We're more interested in what happens when you practice connection with people you don't already know. We think isolation wears us down. And, connection across different experiences makes us stronger.
Our gatherings are welcoming, joyful, and grounded in real human connection. You don't need to be "launching" anything specific. This is about creating space for whatever you want to pursue through community.

How the evening will work:
The event will begin at 7pm, with a brief welcome. And then, an Icebreaker: to get to know each other better and to size up your trivia challengers. Then, at 7:15pm sharp, we will be locked in for the flow of quiz questions. The format of the grouping will be determined on the night, so please ensure to RSVP to avoid being disappointed. Also, if you are bringing other folks to join in, please remember to RSVP for them as well.

You’ll leave with:
- A fun sense of teamwork
- A thrill of competition
- New fun facts and knowledge that may, or may not, be situational
- Bragging rights! But only if you win of course 🤩 🎉

Who comes to Launch Community events?
We have all sorts of people in the Launch Community. Many of us are working on projects or goals and looking for community. Some are new to Auckland. Generally, we're people getting out of our comfort zones a bit and looking for our way into community.
