August: Betty

August's theme is Epic Family Saga Across Time and the group voted to read Betty by Tiffany McDaniel. It's a heartbreaking and lyrical coming-of-age story about a young girl growing up in rural Ohio, grappling with poverty, racism, and family secrets.

This one has been on my list for a while so I'm excited to read it!

I'll share some discussion questions a few days in advance to get your wheels turning. Our meetings are casual chats about this month's book, other books we've enjoyed recently, and what other fun things we are up to. If you don't finish the book, that's okay - tell us why you didn't like it!
