About us
Welcome Wineauxs!
Are you looking for a book club for wine lovers? STOP! This is that book club!
I started this book club two years ago in Scottsdale, Arizona, and then shortly after in Orange County, California (I still host these cities every month!). It's been a successful two years running. Now, I'm expanding and would love to start another chapter in my hometown of Los Angeles!
For Wineauxs age 35+. We meet once a month in person at a local wine bar to drink wine and discuss the book. Yes, we actually discuss the book! I look forward to hearing what everyone thinks each month about the book selection. We will discuss themes, characters, plot, which actors would you cast in a film or TV adaptation? Is this character a Scorpio or a Leo? Which character would you like to give a tough love lecture to? etc, all the things!
How it works: I will pick a theme each month (sometimes it's really random, past themes have included - New York, Art & Artists, First Lines, European Vacation, Haunted Mansion) and nominate 7 titles (both old and new releases, across most genres) that fall into the theme. You then VOTE on which book you'd like to read. The book with the most votes will be the next month's selection! :)
All genders welcome! We read across most genres including literary fiction, mystery/thriller/suspense, memoir/biography, non-fiction, self-development, NYT bestsellers, classics, etc. High fantasy and romance are usually not included, but considered.

WINNER OF THE 2014 DILYS AWARD
A SCHOOL LIBRARY JOURNAL BEST BOOK OF 2013From New York Times bestselling author William Kent Krueger, a brilliant new novel about a young man, a small town, and murder in the summer of 1961.
Description - New Bremen, Minnesota, 1961. The Twins were playing their debut season, ice-cold root beers were selling out at the soda counter of Halderson’s Drugstore, and Hot Stuff comic books were a mainstay on every barbershop magazine rack. It was a time of innocence and hope for a country with a new, young president. But for thirteen-year-old Frank Drum it was a grim summer in which death visited frequently and assumed many forms. Accident. Nature. Suicide. Murder. Frank begins the season preoccupied with the concerns of any teenage boy, but when tragedy unexpectedly strikes his family—which includes his Methodist minister father; his passionate, artistic mother; Juilliard-bound older sister; and wise-beyond-his-years kid brother—he finds himself thrust into an adult world full of secrets, lies, adultery, and betrayal, suddenly called upon to demonstrate a maturity and gumption beyond his years.

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
“[A] word-of-mouth smash hit.” —The New York TimesOne spring morning, a stranger arrives in the small southern city of Golden. No one knows where he has come from…or why…
His name is Theo. And he asks a lot more questions than he answers.
Theo visits the local coffeehouse, where ninety-two pencil portraits hang on the walls, portraits of the people of Golden done by a local artist. He begins purchasing them, one at a time, and putting them back in the hands of their “rightful owners.” With each exchange, a story is told, a friendship born, and a life altered.
A story of giving and receiving, of seeing and being seen, Theo of Golden is a beautifully crafted novel about the power of creative generosity, the importance of wonder to a purposeful life, and the invisible threads of kindness that bind us to one another.
