After the eggsellent success and popularity of last few years' events, hop aboard this sailing flotilla with a difference! Crews will collect points and chocolate as they navigate the best route around the Solent in an all-new Easter challenge … Think orienteering meets yachting meets chocolate! First-time sailors and new members warmly welcomed. This is a non-commercial trip costing £265 run on a shared-cost basis.

Plan
We plan to meet at Port Hamble Marina around 7pm on Good Friday, leave our bags aboard the yachts and then head to a local pub where each crew will be given the challenge score card (including most importantly, details of the opportunities to collect chocolate). Over a pint and some supper it will time to strategise and create the best sailing plan for the trip... On Saturday morning the sailing challenge begins! There’ll be plenty of sailing and fun out on the water, and then we’ll all have dinner together ashore when the midpoints winners will be announced. On Sunday there will be an opportunity to reverse the leader board! We'll set off back around the Solent collecting more points and chocolate before we return to Port Hamble Marina to return the boats at around 4.00pm in time to announce the grand winners and give out prizes.

Accommodation will be aboard the yachts in shared double cabins.

Extra Taster Day?
If that isn't enough sailing excitement, why not stay aboard for an extra (eggs-tra?) day? We have the boats for the whole weekend. We would like to offer new members who haven't sailed with us before an opportunity to sail with the club without committing to a multi-day event... but they wouldn't get the club experience without some club regulars along too! There is a separate event booking for the taster day so please express an interest if you'd like to come along.

Yachts
So far we’ve chartered three identical 37ft yachts (but we will add more if there is interest) and will sail with a maximum of six egg hunters per boat. The yachts are licensed to carry more but we want everyone to have enough space and a proper chance to be involved in the sailing. If you’re new to yachting, you’ll be pleased to know the boats have heating, hot/cold running water, a bathroom, a kitchen with a fridge, and more than enough electricity to charge your phone!

Skippers & First Mates
Each crew will be led by one of LSC's fantastic and experienced skippers and strategists, with a First Mate from the club's Take the Helm! programme. Watch this space for names to be announced.

Kit
No special or expensive sailing kit required! Just bring practical footwear and clothing to suit the weather forecast. Lifejackets are provided. Foul weather gear can be hired locally if needed. Towels and bedding aren’t provided, so please bring a towel, pillow and sleeping bag. Don't forget sunglasses and sunscreen, plus your swimming kit in case you fancy a dip!

Cost
This is a non-commercial trip run on a shared-cost basis. The cost is £265 per person, which covers the yacht charter, fuel, marina fees, breakfasts, lunches, snacks, soft drinks and, of course, the Easter eggs! It also includes a £5 contribution to the club's Muck Up Fund which allows us to help skippers on club trips manage the risk of accidental damage caused by trip participants. It doesn’t cover evening meals or getting yourself to/from the trip. 50% (£132.50) is payable on sign-up to secure your place, with the remaining 50% due by 31st January. Note that, because this trip is being advertised via the London Sailing Club’s platforms, any participant who is not already a full member of the Club (which costs £24 per year) will need to join prior to the start of the trip.
