As the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness continues, let's away to West Sussex for a corker of a walk that showcases all the best that Autumn in the south of England has to offer. Covering around 12 miles (18km) starting in the village of Pulborough, it encompasses bucolic riverbanks, secluded woodland, gorse-covered heathland and even a bit of the South Downs on its way to Amberley, with plenty of cultural interest on the way, too - from Brinkwells, the house in which Edward Elgar composed his famed Cello Concerto in the immediate aftermath of World War I, to the remains of the Roman Villa at Bignor.

And of course, this group being this group, concerns of the flesh are taken seriously too, with plenty of opportunity for rest and relaxation in some fine pubs along the way, including for lunch.

Marvellous - do come!
