PARTNER FOR THIS ACTIVITY:
City of Pitt Meadows http://www.pittmeadows.bc.ca/
This partnership will increase community engagement, raise environmental awareness & increase their capacity to improve their local parks & riparian areas
ABOUT SITE:
Katzie Slough is an ecologically and culturally significant floodplain watershed. Pump stations control water levels and restrict fish movement between the Fraser and Pitt Rivers & Katzie Slough. Challenges include reduced water quality, & restricted flows, low shading from tree canopies, invasive species encroachment; yet despite these limitations, salmonids overwinter and other native fish and wildlife species occur year-round. Help improve stream conditions by planting trees & shrubs adjacent to the Wildwood Trail network & Katzie Slough.
