THIS ACTIVITY IS BEING RESCHEDULED DUE TO RISK OF FLOODING AT OUR PLANTING SITE. Ensuring you are safe and have a positive experience is our top priority!
This activity will now take place on Sun Oct 27 from 1-4:15pm, AFTER our first activity from 9:30am-1pm. Join us then!

Restore local salmon habitat with the Lower Mainland Green Team & Alouette River Management Society!
Come plant native shrubs with us along a salmon spawning channel! All ages, abilities & experience levels are welcome, bring your family & friends! NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED.
*Please note this site has uneven ground in many areas & can be muddy. Option to remove invasive blackberry in a more flat area to rescue native trees will be available*

Meet at 13193 216 St, Maple Ridge HERE. At the stop sign at 216 St and 132 Ave, go straight & take an immediate left. Head up the driveway then take a right & you'll see us. Follow our signs!

TAKING TRANSIT?
This site is not very transit accessible. We suggest bringing a bike on the bus, planning for a 2.5-3.3km walk from the nearest 701 or R3 bus stops, or connecting with others who are signed up to carpool.

WASHROOMS

WHAT TO BRING
• Long sleeves & long, thick pants (like jeans) you don't mind getting dirty to protect you from thorny plants & ticks
• Refillable water bottle
• Sturdy, comfortable closed toe boots that can get wet and dirty
• Rain jacket in case it rains
• Hat to keep sun/rain out of your face

• Gloves, tools & safety glasses
• Educational instruction & safety talk on what to do (no experience needed!)
• Yummy snacks
• Photos of you in action
• Volunteer letters (on request)

FLOW OF THE ACTIVITY
• Meet at 9:30am (please be on time!)

• Drive together to the planting site at 9:45am
• Receive instruction & demo for activity
• Plant native shrubs
• Take a snack break (yum!) around 11:30am
• Continue planting until 1pm
• Help us pack up tools & supplies
• Check-out
• Drive back together to meeting spot
