YOUTH ACTIVITY - Remove Invasive Plants @ Ruth Johnson Park in White Rock!

In celebration of EARTH MONTH, we will be engaging local students in an invasive blackberry and ivy removal at Ruth Johnson Park in White Rock!
This activity will run RAIN OR SHINE. We will have fun no matter the weather!
We are excited to be engaging students across two sessions:
• 9-11am: Lloywin English's classes from Earl Marriott Secondary
• 11:30am-1pm: Lisa Ordeman and Lisa Hiddleston's classes from H.T. Thrift Elementary
Please arrive at your class' designated time.

DRIVING?
Do not pay for parking! We will hand out FREE parking passes when you arrive
FLOW OF THE ACTIVITY
• Meet at your designated time & sign in
• Receive educational instruction, safety talk & demo on how to remove invasive plants
• Remove invasive plants until the end of your class' session
• Enjoy yummy snacks before heading back to school
WHAT TO BRING
• Water bottle
• Sturdy, comfortable closed toe shoes/boots or rain boots
• Long sleeves & long thick pants (such as jeans) for protection from thorny plants
• Wear clothes/shoes that can get a bit dirty
• Rain jacket, rain boots & hat in case it rains
WHAT WILL BE PROVIDED
• Gloves, tools & safety glasses
• Educational instruction & safety talk on what to do (no experience necessary!)
• Hands-on environmental education
• Photos of everyone in action
• A fun, empowering opportunity to make a difference!
• Snacks at the end of the activity
WHAT HAPPENS AFTERWARDS
• A follow-up survey will be sent to teachers (filling this out helps us improve our program & secure funding to run more activities!)
