Let's kick off the summer by watching the Seattle Center light up! We're heading to the 2nd annual Seattle Glow, where towering, 100-foot-tall hot air balloons will be tethered to the ground right beneath the Space Needle. When the sun goes down, the pilots fire their burners in sync to DJ music, turning the balloons into massive glowing lanterns.
It’s completely free, highly photogenic, and a uniquely "Seattle" way to spend a Sunday night.
### 🗺️ Game Plan & Timeline
7:30 PM:* Meet outside the main south entrance of the Armory to gather the group before claiming a solid patch of grass near Fisher Pavilion.
8:00 PM:* DJ Lucky Strike kicks off the music. We'll hang out, eat, and socialize on the lawn.
9:00 PM:* The Glow begins! The balloons will inflate and light up the night.
10:00 PM:* The event wraps up.
### 🎒 What to Bring
A blanket or low-backed chair* for sitting on the lawn.
Layers!* It always gets a little chilly once the sun dips below the horizon.
Snacks and drinks* (The Armory will also be open late if you want to grab food or use the restrooms there).
### 📍 How to Find Us
Since the event is expecting up to 20,000 people, finding each other later in the evening will be tough. Please aim to be at our meeting spot by the Armory right at 7:30 PM so we can walk to the lawn together.
I will post a comment on this event page on the day of the event with exactly what I am wearing so you can easily spot me. If you are running late, keep an eye on the event chat—I will drop a pin of our exact location on the lawn once we are settled!
Pro-tip: Parking around Seattle Center will be very tight, so taking the Monorail or public transit is highly recommended!
