Hike at Fort Ord Nat'l Montument
Details
This loop will take us through the NW corner of Fort Ord. We will begin adjacent to the East Garrison neighborhood as accessed via Reservation Road; in the area of Watkins Gate and Barloy Canyon Roads. We will hike mostly through oak-woodland and meadows. Route to be determined, although we will proceed southerly along Border Road toward Machine Gun Flats/Eucalyptus Roads and return as a big loop.
Meeting Location:
We will meet on the corner of Watkins Gate and Barloy Canyon Roads at 11AM.
Parking can be found in the residential area north of Watkins Gate Road/Sloat Road Ord Ave.
Distance: around 8 miles
Elevation gain: around 700 ft
Loop hike
Hiking time will be around 3-4 hours
We will stop as needed for breaks/water/snack/etc
