Practice you language skills in a relaxed social environment and make some new friends!
Whether you are looking to learn some Mandarin, brush up on your high school French or Spanish or practice your English and meet some international and local friends, this is the group for you! All levels are welcome, from the curious beginner to the grizzled veteran, everyone can take part, learn something new and make fantastic friends along the way.
Unlike other language exchange events in Hong Kong, the format of The Most Amazing Language Exchange in Hong Kong (and Macao) is specifically designed to 1) be a genuinely helpful event for improving your languages skills while 2) still be a relaxed environment where you can unwind after a busy work week. Language learning after all should be a fun and rewarding experience and not feel like extra work!
HOW IT WORKS
Step 1: Sign up to join and click RSVP for the event you would like to join (duh!)
The format: Language exchange will be organised around specific languages (i.e. Mandarin and English corner) or there will be multiple tables organised for different languages such as French, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese etc. (language events / tables will be organised subject to demand).
Why this makes it "The Most Amazing": To fit with the ethos of the group, we are trying to avoid both the "1 on 1 language exchange format", as it is too formal and restricted (and god forbid you are stuck talking to a boring person!!) and we also want to avoid the "speak any language you want format", to end up being an event that is labelled as "Language exchange" but in which everyone just speaks English. You are not forced to speak another language here, but the event will be conducive to bringing people together to speak their target language.
Events will be planned for Macao at a later stage once the group grows in popularity.
