🧟 Ultimate ā€˜Zombie’ Tag in the Park

Details

šŸ‘Ÿ It’s time to dust off your running shoes because an epidemic of zombies will break out in Arenberg Park next Tuesday (26th of August) and you don’t want to miss it!

ā„¹ļø If you don’t know, ā€˜zombie tag’ is a variant of the classic children’s game where one person begins as ā€˜it’- the tagger. In our case ā€˜patient zero’ will be me who will get things going. When I tag someone by touching them on the arm/back/shoulder they also become a zombie. They will immediately be added to the zombie WA group for coordination with fellow zombies (we don’t just eat brains- we use them as well!). They will also replace their white headbands of the living players with the red headbands of the undead so that everyone can see who is or is not a zombie. Crucially, everyone who becomes a zombie can turn others into zombies as well so in principle there will be an epidemic- the last person standing is the winner who will make one last mad dash as everyone else chases them down- no survivors in this apocalypse!

The game will be played in two rounds. The first round will be limited to a single field in the park so that everyone gets a sense of how the game works. The second round will last longer and involve the whole of Arenberg park bounded by the river Dijle and the roads on all sides.

To prevent people from hiding under a pile of leaves the entire game, or something like that, I will ask everyone to share their live locations via Google Maps with me for a duration of 3 hours. Periodically I may decide to reveal the locations of one or all of the remaining living players to my fellow zombies, so your best bet is to keep moving if you don’t want to be a sitting duck for the zombies!

I will make a couple of other stipulations:

  1. You cannot go into buildings.
  2. Stick to the footpaths and fields as much as possible. We want to respect nature.
  3. Be mindful of other people in the park who are not playing our game.
  4. If anyone falls or gets injured in any way you will call a timeout to check in on them, regardless of what team they’re on. I will have basic first aid equipment if necessary.
  5. Bring at least 2 L of water, passable running shoes, and appropriate sportswear
  6. It’s a game- have fun and don’t take it too seriously!
