Selecting a Business Entity and Raising Capital

Some of the most important decisions you'll make for your company are the first ones - what corporate form should I select? Where should I look for investors, and how can I successfully pitch and close a cap raise?

We've all heard of LLCs and corporations, but maybe you are wondering what the differences are and what form is best for you and your business plans. Once you select your entity, maybe you are wondering how best to approach venture capital firms and other investment sources, and what you can do to best position your company to raise money. Depending on whether your investments are to come from angel investors, friends and family, venture capitalists or crowdfunding, there are various different steps you can take to help you close your funding and get to work.
