A gdb-like Debugger for Perl by Rocky Bernstein

A gdb-like Debugger for Perl by Rocky Bernstein

Details

About this talk:

Have you ever needed to debug some Perl code? Have you tried the built-in Perl debugger? Sure it does the job, but... yuck!

In this talk, Rocky Bernstein will show off a new gdb-like debugger he wrote for Perl, Devel::Trepan (http://p3rl.org/Devel::Trepan). It includes extensive on-line help, debugger command completion and source-code colorization. It has other features that are not in the venerable stock debugger for Perl, but you may also come away knowing a little more about perl5db.

About the speaker:

Rocky has been writing open-source code for close to two decades and has been using Perl for about as long. Chances are that code he wrote or contributed to is on your computer, especially if it is Unix-derived. Rocky makes lots of mistakes so he has worked on a number of debuggers, including an exotic one for GNU Make.
