Guest Speakers Double-Feature: HQ/USA Relations & Umbraco’s Cross-platform Fun

Details
For our October Meetup we have two fantastic guest speakers:
Emma Burstow: Director of Developer Relations, Umbraco
Us, US and Umbraco
Over in Denmark, we spend a lot of time thinking about our US friends. It's rare, though, that we are able to join you for a chat, in your back gardens. Emma, will take you through our plans for us: how we plan to expand our US presence, how you can help, what you have to look forward to and what we can do to ensure that the friendliness we have become so accustomed to in our timezone, makes itself felt over here with you too.
Callum Whyte: UmbraCoffee Barista, Umbraco & Microsoft MVP, and owner of Bump Digital
Umbraco Anywhere
Umbraco has always been flexible – but now with true cross platform support in Umbraco 10 its potential has been unchained! Let’s explore everything from the practical to the absolutely mind-blowing ways you can run Umbraco anywhere!
We’ll cover the basics of deploying a V10 site on Linux over SSH; that could be a web server, a Raspberry Pi, or even your refrigerator…?!?
At times it can be helpful to consume the Umbraco APIs remotely – such as in “serverless” environments like Azure Functions, perfect for scheduled tasks or offloading background processing. We will learn how Umbraco’s boot pipeline works, and what you need to know to run the CMS in these non-traditional contexts.
Finally we’ll see a number of possibilities for running Umbraco as an embedded platform – including for IoT, inside a MAUI mobile app, or a Xamarin smartwatch app – all thanks to SQLite support in V10. Anywhere you can run .NET, you can run Umbraco!
There might also be time for general discussion where everyone is invited to share about projects they’re working on, questions & problems they’re facing, and favorite tools and processes (Umbraco-related, or otherwise: ASP.Net, front-end web dev, etc.)
As always, all are welcome! If you’re an Umbraco fan, or just curious about the premier open source ASP.Net Content Management System, come on out to our meetup and hang out with some friendly folks. You don't even need to be a developer - content producers, marketers, SEO-lovers, and others can all find something interesting.
