IMPORTANT NOTES: This is NOT a beginner hike. Please be honest with your hiking ability before signing up. Trails are moderately intensity. WE'LL GO AT SLOW LEISURELY PACE AND WE WILL NOT LEAVE YOU BEHIND. BUT YOU SHOULD STILL BE ABLE TO HANDLE THE PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE HIKE AND COMPLETE THE HIKE WITHOUT ANY ISSUES.

Blue Mountain Reservation is a 1,538-acre park in the northwest section of Westchester County. It features miles of trails for mountain biking, strolling and nature study, and offers challenging hikes to the tops of two large peaks, Mt. Spitzenberg and Blue Mountain.

GETTING THERE: 8:56AM Metro-North to PEEKSKILL station. Train will arrive in Peekskill at 9:58AM. Then we'll walk about 40-mins on city streets to reach the trailhead.

TOTAL MILEAGE: 6-8 miles, maybe more, maybe less, who can tell for sure?

INTENSITY: Moderate.

PACE: Hiking pace will be LEISURELY AND NO ONE WILL BE LEFT BEHIND. Throughout day, we'll have lunch, water and snack breaks as needed; as well as taking time to savor the sights and sounds of nature, take photos, hug some trees, and most importantly, socialize with your fellow hikers. NO SPEED DEMONS!!!!

THE IMPORTANT STUFF:

• Dress in non-cotton layers.
• Wear appropriate shoes suitable for hiking -
• Bring at least 3 liters of liquid to stay hydrated.
• Bring lunch and snacks for yourself.
• Bring a sense of adventure and a positive attitude. A smile also goes a long way. Please leave the drama and crankiness at home.

DURATION: This is an all-day hike. After hike we can do dinner and drinks in Peekskill before heading home.

WEATHER: Rain or extreme heat and humidity will cancel.

MEETUP FEE: a $2.00 meetup fee will be collected to help defray the cost of keeping this group going
