After nearly a decade, Saffron is back!
When Saffron announced its long-awaited return, I jumped at the opportunity to make a reservation and was fortunate enough to secure one of the very limited 5:00 pm tables for six guests.
For those who remember Saffron, this is something of a homecoming.
Chef Sameh Wadi originally opened Saffron with his brother Saed in 2007, and the acclaimed restaurant became known for its imaginative Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cooking before closing in December 2016.
Now, Saffron begins an entirely new chapter in Northeast Minneapolis, with Sameh drawing even more deeply from his Palestinian heritage, family recipes and live-fire cooking.
The menu is designed beautifully for sharing. We can explore dishes across the table including wood-fired sourdough pita and hummus, mezze, Arabic pizzas, vegetables, charcoal-grilled meats and fish, rice dishes and speciality dishes such as Chicken Musakhan and Lamb Zarb.
Because our reservation is limited to six guests, please RSVP only when you are confident you can attend. Should your plans change, please update your RSVP promptly so someone on the waiting list has the opportunity to join us.
This should be a particularly special dinner โ not simply trying a new restaurant, but experiencing the return of a Minneapolis favourite almost ten years after its doors closed.
