About us
## Think book club… without the book.
The No-Book Book Club is a social circle for women ages 40–65 along the I-80 corridor between Auburn and Roseville who are looking for something a little more meaningful than simply adding another event to the calendar.
Every other week, we'll gather in one another's homes for appetizers, drinks, conversation, laughter, and good company.
No book. No homework. No agenda. Just women getting together and actually getting to know one another.
The idea is simple: bring one thing to share—either an appetizer or a beverage. Wine, a premixed cocktail, sparkling water, mocktails… whatever you'd enjoy sharing. There's no need to bring both.
### What we're hoping to create
This isn't a networking group, a singles group, a political group, or a faith-based group.
The hope is to create a warm, comfortable circle where women can relax, laugh, talk about real life, and form genuine friendships. Some connections may remain casual; others may grow into deeper friendships that can be harder to find as adults.
We're looking for women who value kindness, warmth, acceptance, humor, curiosity, and respect for one another.
### A little about our vibe
This is an intentionally secular, generally left-leaning social circle—but it is not a place for political or religious discussion.
You don't need to check a particular political box or share identical beliefs to belong here. We're simply hoping to create a circle of women who tend to share socially progressive values—acceptance, equality, inclusion, and a live-and-let-live attitude toward how other people choose to live their lives.
At the same time, politics gets enough airtime everywhere else. We don't want our evenings together to become discussions about elections, candidates, political parties, or the latest outrage in the news.
The same goes for religion. Members may have their own personal beliefs, but our gatherings are secular. We're not here for prayer, Bible study, religious discussion, conversion, or debate.
In short: shared values, not shared talking points.
### How our gatherings work
We'll meet approximately every other week, rotating among members' homes along the Auburn–Roseville I-80 corridor.
Gatherings will generally be kept relatively small so we're able to have real conversations rather than feeling like we're at a large Meetup event.
Hosting is part of the spirit of the group, but nobody needs to have a fancy home, cook an elaborate spread, or entertain Pinterest-style. Open your door, provide a comfortable place to gather, and we'll bring the rest.
Bring one thing to share: an appetizer or a beverage. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic choices are equally welcome.
I'll host our very first gathering to get us started.
Come as you are. Bring something yummy or something to pour. Leave the book—and the political debates—at home. ❤️
